Golden fields, lavender, vineyards, laughs, love... all drenched in the soft sunset light of Pont d'Arc, Ardeche. We didn't really have a plan or even any ideas for the photographs; we simply spent the evening wondering aimlessly and enjoying the breathtaking beauty of the landscape around us.
I often find that a lack of a plan is the best plan when it comes to shoots like these. A lack of a structure not only frees up creativity, it pushes it and encourages thinking on the spot, something that I learnt a lot about through my degree in Fashion & Advertising Photography (you can see my fashion website here) People who know me (especially Luke) know that I am such a planner. I love plans! And lists. And organisation. I plan so much in the run up to weddings, fashion shoots, commercial jobs etc. which is very important and necessary, but all the more reason to take photographs simply for the pleasure. It provides room to experiment and grow, and keeps the joy in it! I find doing family portraits, engagement sessions and couple shoots are a great way to explore new ideas and techniques without time pressures.
This photoshoot was one such shoot and it will definitely be an evening that I won't forget in a long time.
Emma + Ben, thanks for the memories.
